Chapter 4: Una and Soohyeok (Soohyeok’s House)

  In Soohyeok's room

  Una: (Looking upset) She called me ungrateful again.

  Soohyeok: Why?

    Una: She ... (sighs) … she said she had put up with Dad’s yapping just for me and I wasn’t grateful for what she had done.

  Soohyeok: What did your Dad say?

Una: He told her I’m dumb … and it’s all her fault.

  Una: (feeling a little better) It’s because Mum only went to a commercial high school. Dad went to university.

  Soohyeok: (returning to the artificially soft voice) If you want to do well in society, you need to understand how you make other people feel.

  Una: (feeling bad, but trying to hold it in with a kind voice) I get it. (quietly to herself) If he says it’s ok, it’s ok.
